Philips unveil latest 1080p Ambilight HDTV. The 42PFL9900D has been given a complete redesign, although the bad news is that there are still no plans to bring it to the UK following its release later this year.
The evolutionary white design is a far cry from typical glossed black designs that have flooded the market while the underlying technology is equally unique. Philips Ambilight full surround technology ??“ a system where light is independently projected from all sides creating a surrounding glow that changes in colour and intensity according to what you’re watching ??“ has finally been seamlessly integrated into the curved surround.
The state of the art specification features a Full HD 1080p resolution (1920×1080) supported by Philips’ famed Perfect Pixel HD processing technology with 100Hz refresh rate, 1200:1 contrast ratio, 550 cd/m2 brightness and a wide 176 degree viewing angle. There’s an integrated digital TV tuner and connectivity includes three HDMI inputs and a USB port that can be used to access digital music and photo files.
