Optiarc* has unveiled its BC-5500A Blu-ray reader for laptops. It’s a all-round drive which provide Blu-ray playback on top of regular DVD and CD burning and playback functionality.
It’s available now, retailing for around $320.

Panasonic has unveiled its new line of Blu-ray recorders in Japan. The Blu-ray series is line of three recorders ??“ the BW700, BW800 and BW900, equipped with integrated hard drive storage from 250GB to 1TB (!!).

Toshiba has unveiled a new Vardia DVD / HD DVD recorder with hard drive. The RD-RX7 capable of recording HD video to non-HD DVD DVDs. Also Toshiba RD-RX7 can even fit about 2 hours of HD video onto old school DVD media with “HD Rec technology”, supports HDMI out with 1080p/24.
